Here is what we are currently working on.
DREAM GREEN VOLUSIA is a not-for-profit organization run solely by volunteers and committed to working on environmental issues across Volusia County. One of the most pressing issues we have is water quality. It is extremely important to Volusia residents and many of our local waterways are impaired.
Volusia waterways have been polluted by fertilizer, pesticide, chemical run off, wastewater and trash. These pollutants are entering our springs and starting to affect our drinking water supply. Dream Green Volusia’s water quality projects are focused on the entire county and its cities.

Only Rain Down the Drain Stencils
Our “Only Rain Down the Drain” plan is to provide stencils to every city for labeling their storm drains. These stencils educate the public that pollutants going down storm drains go directly to the river.

WATERGOATS
WATERGOATS are effective in stopping debris in canals from reaching the river. These are available to all cities along the river who have outflow. They are custom made to fit the canal. WATERGOATS are fully funded by grants, but supplies are needed for ongoing cleaning.

Only Rain Down the Drain Murals
“Only Rain Down the Drain” murals are effective for education in high traffic areas. We are working with two talented artists and the utilities departments in cities to choose curb storm drain locations for artwork. Storm drains are all regulated by utilities in every city and the county
Adopt a Drain is a program in which residents volunteer to check a storm drain twice a month and remove debris. It is a nationwide program and effective in stopping pollutants from reaching the river.
